Do You Require A Stockbroker
To trade on the stock market you must use the services of a certified stockbroker. But they will do much more for you than just execute trades. They will monitor share prices, and provide valuable information on what they believe will be the next batch of movers and shakers in the market. Many different services are available from brokers now and they attract a commission or set fee arrangement. Brokers can perform trades, can offer you market advice and manage a portfolio for you.
It may be that all you want to do is buy and sell shares so a broker will follow your orders on this. The buying and selling service is available to novice and experienced traders alike but the broker will not provide any advice here. This is generally the most inexpensive use of a stockbroker and they will often charge a commission based on the value of the trade. Conducting trades is the most popular service offered by a stockbroker.
Offering advice is another popular service. Providing advice is a more costly service as it involves a lot of work from the broker and considerable expertise as you will be advised on stocks that will potentially make you money. The stockbroker will also spend time with you to make sure that you understand everything that is being recommended to you. This is really important if you are a novice in share dealing and the payment will probably consist of a fixed fee plus trade commissions.
There are two types of portfolio management service which are advisory and discretionary. There is a big difference between the two, an advisory portfolio service is where a broker will examine the market and provide several recommendations for you of stocks with potential and then it’s up to you. A discretional portfolio management service allows your broker to decide what your portfolio will be and trade on it without requiring any decision making from you.
